Irish Food Writers' Guild - Award Winners 2007
The winners of Ireland’s most prestigious awards of their kind (2007) are;
Ummera Smoked Products Limited for their smoked silver eel;
Good 4U Food and Drink Company for their Brocco shoots;
Meadowsweet Apiaries for their honey and honey products;
Mossfield Organic Farm for their range of organic farmhouse cheeses.
The awards are about only one thing - true excellence. Through them the members of the Irish Food Writer's Guild honour the hard work and
dedication of the very best of Irish food producers. It is known that an award of this kind can be of particular benefit to an artisan or speciality
food producer. Throughout the year, members, in the course of their daily work, have many opportunities to sample a variety of food products. Members may nominate products they believe meet the criteria and reach the standard of excellence required.

Chairperson of the Irish Food Writers Guild, said
"We believe the awards are regarded as the most prestigious food awards in Ireland because we have a long and carefully considered selection process involving every member of the guild.
The awards are
unique, in that we deliberately have no set categories, and no one may enter themselves for consideration. Only guild members can nominate a product or producer and I assure you they take the nomination, tasting and
voting very seriously indeed.
“The food product, which must be produced in Ireland, may be traditional or innovative. And although the product itself may be new to the market the producer must have been trading for at least three years. Award winners do not even know they are being considered until informed after the final vote of the members."
