Joe McNamee

Joe McNamee has been writing about food since the late 1990s and is a weekly Food Columnist/Food Feature Writer (and erstwhile Restaurant Reviewer) with the Irish Examiner and a Contributing Editor with John & Sally McKenna's Irish Food Guides. He also writes for other publications, is a Contributing Editor with Taste of Ireland and works as a consultant for small producers, food retailers and restaurateurs. He is the co-author of cookbook/memoir, Clifford & Son (Liberties Press).

Originally trained as a graphic designer, he made the switch to journalism in the late ‘90s, initially as a magazine editor before becoming a features writer with the Irish Examiner and eventually moving to the arts desk to become Deputy Arts Editor. At various lean periods in his life, he has worked as a chef with over eight years professional experience, including two years as head chef in Cork's legendary Quay Co-op Evening Restaurant. He is currently studying at Cork Institute of Technology for a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Culinary Arts. He is a member of Slow Food Ireland and the NUJ and dearly loves to commit eating.
