Suzie Lee

TV presenter and author Suzie Lee is the winner of BBC’s Best Home Cook 2020, she also happens to be a Chartered Accountant.

Brought up by her Hong Kong parents in Northern Ireland Suzie was extremely fortunate in that her parents carried on the customs and traditions of Hong Kong in their family home in Northern Ireland.

She has been cooking since she was a child when she used to help out in her family’s Chinese takeaway (Man Lee in Lisburn, Northern Ireland) – her love of cooking instilled in her by her mum, who sadly passed away quite suddenly when she was 16.

Since winning the show, Suzie has gone on to present Suzie Lee Home Cook Hero which was first broadcasted in June 2020. This was commissioned on a yearly basis and the final series was aired in July 2024 (4 series).

Suzie’s newest series is a new concept and follows on from Suzie Lee’s Home Cook Hero. This would be her 5th TV Series and is now airing (May 2025)– Suzie Lee’s Great Food, Made Simple on BBC One. Suzie cooks all genres of food on her tv show and is passionate about Cantonese/Hong Kong cuisine as she is rediscovering her heritage. All can be watched on BBC iPlayer.

Suzie was also one of the judges on RTE’s Takeaway Titans in 2022 and appears regularly on Ireland AM and This Morning as well as being one of the reporters for BBC’s Food Fest which is on BBC iPlayer.

Suzie has worked with a number of brands including WRAP – Love Food Hate Waste, SuperValu, Tilda, SafeFood and Netmums for PR campaigns and demonstrations.

Her latest book, Simply Chinese Feasts was published in January 2024 following on from the success of my first book Simply Chinese, which has been translated into French, Dutch and Spanish. I am currently working on my 3rd book which is being released in January 2026.

Suzie’s first book, Simply Chinese, has been translated into French, Dutch and Spanish and was published in August 2022. It was followed up with Simply Chinese Feasts in January 2024 with a 3rd book commissioned for 2025 release to complete the Simply Chinese trilogy.

Her recipes have been featured in many publications such as: Guardian Feasts Magazine, Good Food Everyday Magazine, Red magazine, National Geographic Traveller magazine, BBC Food magazine, Easy Food Magazine, Sainsbury’s Magazine, Stylist Magazine to name but a few and various newspapers.

Suzie has also worked with a number of brands including SuperValu, The BBC Good Food Show, SafeFood, Tilda and Netmums for PR campaigns and demonstrations.

She is a mother-of-two and juggles looking after her young children, also running her accountancy business from home and exercising in her spare time.

Suzie does everything at 100 miles an hour and packs as much as possible into every day and is nicknamed the “Tasmanian Devil” by her friends as a result.
