Gráinne O’Keeffe

Gráinne O’Keefe is a celebrated Irish chef, restauranteur and food writer, known for her modern approach to Irish cuisine and her focus on high-quality local produce.

Gráinne began her culinary career at the age of 17, inspired by cookbooks and cooking shows she discovered through a mobile library. She studied culinary arts at the Dublin Institute of Technology while working full-time in professional kitchens in Dublin.

In 2021, she opened her first restaurant, Mae, in Ballsbridge, Dublin 4. Named after her late grandmother, Mae offers a modern Irish tasting menu that blends innovation with seasonal, local ingredients. Located above The French Paradox wine shop, Mae has received critical acclaim and praise for its creative dishes and expertly curated wine pairings.

Gráinne is also a regular contributor to The Irish Times, where she writes a popular weekly recipe column, sharing seasonal, accessible meals and insights into Irish food culture.

In 2024, she published her debut cookbook, Go and Cook Yourself-  a collection of fun, thoughtful recipes designed for solo cooks. The book is a celebration of cooking for oneself with joy and creativity, and it includes contributions from friends and fellow chefs.

Outside of Mae, Gráinne is the Culinary Director for Bujo, a gourmet burger restaurant with locations in Terenure and Sandymount. She is also an advocate for Irish food producers and emerging culinary talent.

Her media appearances include the RTÉ documentary series Beyond the Menu and interviews on international food platforms such as Cherry Bombe.
