Irish Food Writers’ Guild announces new members for 2022

It is with pleasure that we announce the addition of three new members to the Irish Food Writers’ Guild for 2022. Membership is by invitation only to established food writers with an acknowledged and substantial corpus of work. The Guild currently has 74 members.

The new Guild members announced today, Wednesday 18 May, are: Jolene Cox, family food writer and founder of the One Yummy Mummy Family Cooking Club; Tacos (Blasta Books) author Lily Ramirez-Foran of Picado Mexican, Ireland’s leading Mexican boutique grocer and cookery school; and freelance food, wine and travel writer Melanie May who documents her experiences on gastro-travel blog Travel Eat Write Repeat. The Irish Food Writers’ Guild was formed in 1990 to promote high professional standards of knowledge and practice among writers about food, nutrition, food history and related matters and to assist in the formulation of links and networks amongst all involved in the food industry.

While being able to gather together in person has been difficult over the last two years, as a Guild we have continued to hold online meetings and to celebrate the best of Irish food through our Food Awards. Our second e-zine, written by members of the Guild to showcase the winners of the 2022 IFWG Food Awards (https://issuu.com/irishfoodwritersguild/docs/irish_food_writers_guild_2022), was published in March.

As we continue to working at nurturing, encouraging and supporting this community, we are delighted to welcome our new members, who we believe will join with us in supporting excellence and integrity in food writing.
